Data Scientist
MeDirect Group is a pan-European financial institution operating across three European jurisdictions and active in a wide variety of financial markets. As part of its digital transformation, MeDirect is becoming increasingly data-driven; translating data into information and using that information to make a real difference for internal and external stakeholders.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Introducing the Data Science function within the Group
  • Initiating and driving data science projects from inception to testing, delivery and optimisation
  • Working closely with the Data Product team and stakeholders to translate requirements into data-driven solutions
  • Developing strategies, algorithms and technology for predictive analysis to enhance our data platforms
  • Establishing the models to build and enrich customer personalisation, cross-selling recommendations and churn prevention
  • Being able to identify emerging trends and process improvement opportunities
  • Carrying out complex ad-hoc data analysis to support and validate business initiatives
  • Collaborating with Data Engineering to make data available and enrich data models
  • Assisting the Business Intelligence chapter with dashboard and application design and inclusion of insights
  • Helping drive the Group's digital transformation by translating data into insights
Required knowledge, skills and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline - a Master's degree would be preferred
  • 3-5 years' experience in data analysis and statistical modelling or AI
  • Proven track record of development with modern languages such as Python (preferred), R or Scala
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience solving analytical problems using scientific analysis using classification, regression, clustering, text mining etc.
  • Exposure to and understanding of Neural Networks, Random Forests, Logistic Regression, SVM, KNN, K-Means, LDA, etc.
  • Experience with Big Data architecture including distributed analytics and streaming.
  • Working knowledge of cloud-based big data platforms (EC2, Lambda, Kinesis, S3, EMR)
  • Familiarity with automated data science platforms such as DataRobot, RapidMiner, Knime or equivalent
  • Prior experience in banking and the financial industry will be considered and advantage
  • Able to communicate clearly, and fluent in both written and spoken English
  • Experience with data visualisation tools - preferably Qlik or MicroStrategy
  • An understanding of Data Warehousing concepts will be considered an asset

  • Knowledge of French and/or Dutch will be considered an asset
