MeDirect scores big in the Banca Cup 2019

On Saturday 18th May, MeDirect took part in the Banca Cup, a football tournament hosted by KPMG and held at the Melita Football Club in Pembroke. MeDirect were represented by
two teams: one male, and one female team, with the latter winning the women’s tournament.

Women’s Tournament Recap

The MeDirect women’s team beat Bank of Valletta 6-1 in the first match, and followed this convincing victory with another high scoring win beating KPMG 5-1. The tournament was decided with a play-off between MeDirect and Bank of Valletta. It was MeDirect who triumphed again, putting another six goals past their opponents in a 6-2 win.

Having won all three games, MeDirect finished with maximum points and therefore were announced as the tournament winners. The teams’ final placing was as follows:

  1. MeDirect – 9 pts
  2. Bank of Valletta – 3 pts
  3. KPMG – 0 pts

Men’s Tournament Recap

In the men’s tournament, MeDirect faced Bank of Valletta and Secure Trading.

Against Secure Trading, MeDirect drew both their games. The first one ended goal-less, while the second one finished 1-1. It was tougher against Bank of Valletta, who won the first match with a convincing 4-0 scoreline. The second match against BOV was more closely fought, but in the end MeDirect were still beaten 2-1.
