MeDirect has donated laptops to Spark 15, an NGO founded in 2017 by a group of young refugees whose mission is to advocate for issues affecting them and to provide young refugees with the education and skills they need to integrate successfully into Maltese society.
The laptops were presented to Chaira Maroino Bray who is responsible for Spark 15’s educational initiatives. These include a partnership with the University of Malta to provide free English-Language and exam preparation classes to support students in obtaining their IELTS language certification. This programme is entirely volunteer-run and depends on the support of tutors, the University of Malta and partner organisations.
Speaking at the presentation of the laptops, Ms Maroino Bray thanked MeDirect, adding that, “Education is at the heart of Spark 15’s mission to help young refugees build a successful future in Malta. Thanks to this donation we will continue helping young refugees to actively participate in achieving a more inclusive society.”
The laptops were presented by MeDirect’s Head – Private Clients, Ray Calleja together with Keith Grech, Corporate IT TechOps – Chapter Lead and Mark Muscat, Corporate IT TechOps at MeDirect. The team at IT TechOps ensured that the laptops presented are in perfect working order with updated operating systems installed.
Ray Calleja said, “MeDirect frequently repurposes equipment so that it can continue to be used productively. This helps to make our organisation more sustainable while providing practical assistance to organisations like Spark 15 that are working hard to help young refugees build a successful future and integrate within our community.”
