Tim Rooney served between June 2018 and February 2020 as Chief Executive Officer and director of Bank Nagelmackers and Anbang Belgium Holding, both in Belgium. Prior to that, he served as Chief Operations Officer of Anbang Belgium Holding and in a number of senior roles in the mortgage, risk and banking fields at Genworth Mortgage Insurance, Deutsche Bank PBC, General Electric Europe and Citifinancial UK. Tim holds a BA (Honours) degree in Political Science and Economics from Huddersfield University (UK).

Marcel Berkhout
Marcel Berkhout joined Royal Dutch Shell in 1994, assuming various positions in engineering and finance in Scotland and London (UK). In 2000, Mr. Berkhout joined the corporate finance division of Kempen & Co, a niche investment bank based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In corporate finance, Marcel was involved in several M&A and ECM transactions, mostly in the energy sector. Upon the acquisition of Kempen & Co by Dexia Bank, Marcel continued his career at the parent Dexia Bank in Brussels in a number of senior management roles, mostly within the corporate banking division. In 2011, Marcel became CFO of Optima Bank, a Belgian institution with focus on personal/private banking.
Francois Ducuroir
From 2010 to 2021, François Ducuroir was a board member and managing partner at Reacfin, the Belgian consulting firm specialised in Risk management and actuarial science. Before that, he was responsible for the Group Credit Portfolio Management and the Capital Solutions teams at BNP Paribas Fortis. Earlier in his career, François worked in different trading rooms in Brussels, London and the Netherlands. He also worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. François holds degrees in Applied Mathematics and Applied Economics. He teaches Finance at the Universities of Louvain and of Namur in Belgium.

Chris Portelli
Chris Portelli has been working in the technology industry since 2002, specialising in the financial and iGaming sectors. Chris began his career with CSL Data Centre in Malta, and over the years he has worked with several international online gaming companies and financial institutions. His role was both of an advisor and technical lead, designing and implementing technical architectures together with supporting new business requirements and challenges. Chris was also actively involved in the iGaming start-up community working with several start-ups to assist them setting up their digital channels and integrations with various providers.
Pawel Malukiewicz
Pawel Malukiewicz has been working in the financial services industry for the last 16 years, for a number of banks including PKO BP, Euro Bank, Millennium Bank and Alior Bank. He also led international projects on behalf of Societe Generale Group. During his career, he gained broad managerial experience on customer experience, project management, data mining, CRM and channel setup. Pawel’s main focus is on building customer centricity across organisations. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Economics in Wroclaw, Poland.
Ramin Fleury
Ramin Fleury joined MeDirect at the start of 2022. He previously was the General Manager of Fortuneo Belgium and then the Marketing Director of Keytrade Bank. He started his career in 2000 at Société Générale before working as a management and strategy consultant, mainly with Oliver Wyman. He has also held various management positions with Fortuneo in France. Ramin holds a master in management from ESCP Business School and a master in philosophy from Université Paris-Sorbonne.
Francesca Farrugia
Francesca Farrugia has been working within the HR sphere for the last 10 years. Working within several international organisations in the manufacturing and IT sector, focusing on HR and how to better employee experience. In 2017, Francesca moved to MeDirect where she held various positions in her area of expertise.
Lorraine Bonello Ghio
Lorraine Bonello Ghio began her career with Mid-Med Bank in 1989. After receiving her basic training across a number of the Bank’s departments, Lorraine was appointed PA to the general manager of MIMBOL (Mid-Med’s offshore subsidiary), a position she held until 1996. Moving to a Legal and Financial Services practice, Lorraine developed her role as PA to the Managing Partner through assuming responsibility for the broader Administration and Human Resources functions. Attracted to the challenges of a start-up business, Lorraine joined MeDirect in its formative stage in 2006, primarily in the role of PA to the CEO, but with involvement across all the support functions of the bank. With the purchase and recapitalisation of the bank in 2009, she was appointed Head of Administration and Human Resources, a role she has remained in through the banks’ rapid growth. Lorraine is CertCIB qualified, and holds a diploma in Business Administration and Human Resources.
Caroline Grech
Caroline started her career in the Banking Industry at HSBC in 2007 where she gained extensive experience within Retail Banking and Wealth Management. In 2012, Caroline moved to MeDirect where she held various positions within her area of expertise but also took on new roles in the Compliance Department where she acquired experience within Regulatory Compliance. Caroline was appointed Head of Regulatory Compliance at MeDirect in 2021 and acts as the Compliance Officer in terms of the MFSA Investment Services Rules.
