MeDirect’s investment centre in Victoria, Gozo, hosted the Otters ASC summer swimming school registration event on Saturday. The activity saw hundreds of young people put their names down to attend waterpolo and swimming lessons during the coming summer. The aspiring athletes were also handed MeDirect merchandise throughout the morning.
Frances Zammit, Senior Officer at MeDirect’s investment centre in Gozo, said, “MeDirect has been supporting Otters ASC, the only waterpolo club in Gozo, for well over a decade, helping thousands of young Gozitans to develop their swimming and waterpolo skills and, more importantly, acquire good habits for a healthy and successful life. MeDirect’s mission is also to help individuals develop the right habits, but for financial success. In this context, we are delighted to collaborate with Otters to offer our premises for this event.”
In addition to supporting the ongoing operations of the club. MeDirect’s support for Otters ASC has, in the past year, also enabled the publication of a commemorative book charting the first fifty years of the club’s history. The book covers Otters’ journey from its humble beginnings in 1971 through to the modern era and its efforts to continue participating in national competitions despite the ongoing disadvantages of being based in Gozo.
Club President Enzo Dimech said, “Otters ASC is grateful for the ongoing support provided by MeDirect which goes a long way in helping the club remain active and successful. Running a swimming and waterpolo club in Gozo is no easy task given the continuing lack of an all weather pool but Otters continues to punch above its weight. It’s great to see that in 2023 we once again have so many youngsters signing up for training and lessons and we are looking forward to a great summer ahead.”
