MeDirect strongly believes in sports and is a proud supporter of Otters ASC in Gozo. As part of the yearly agenda, the Club has worked hard during autumn and winter both to strengthen the Senior Team Squad and also to keep the promising Under 13 and Under 15 Players ‘in touch with water’ due to the lack of a pool in Gozo. In fact promising young players Edward Meli and Luke Hyzler signed four year contracts to join the Otters Senior Squad after a transfer fee was agreed with Sliema.  Aleandro Mifsud, Claudio Spiteri DeBarro, Benji Lanzon, Dean Camilleri and later Marc Lanzon were also signed on one year contracts.

Just before the beginning of the Winter Waterpolo League, Otters secured the services of Anthony Farrugia as Head Coach. Farrugia is the Assistant Coach of the Maltese National Team. Hungarian Ferenc Salamon and Serbian/Dutch national Milos Filipovic were roped in as the Club’s foreigners. Unfortunately, the results obtained by the Senior Team were below par and the team placed fourth, ahead of Ta’ Xbiex.

The Under 15 Team had a season to remember winning their section obtaining 24 out of 27 points. Coached by Jean-Luc Zahra, assisted by Paul Dimech and George Azzopardi, they worked hard to achieve impressive results against opponents who have much better training facilities. In early July, they also completed a six day training camp in Barcelona.  The Under 13 Team also had a good season. These players are products of the Club’s Annual Swimming and Waterpolo School which this summer attracted 150 girls and boys.
