During the festive season, MeDirect continued to do its part to give back to the local community.
€15,000 was donated to L-Istrina as part of their annual charity telethon, which took place on the 26th December. This year’s event raised just over €7 million for the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation, which surpassed last year’s amount of €6.04 million. The Foundation’s aim is to improve the quality of life and care of individuals and society in general, which is achieved by ensuring the effective and transparent application or disbursement of funds that they raise throughout the year.
Following from last year’s successful initiative, the bank once again organised a Reverse Advent Calendar in aid of Richmond Foundation Malta. The organisation seeks to provide the community with mental health services that promote mental well-being, as well as giving support for a good quality of life and working towards the prevention of mental health problems. The food items that were donated by the employees were divided between the residents of the Richmond Foundation hostels situated in Qormi, Attard and Paola, and their group home in Fleur de Lys.
MeDirect also took part in Hospice Malta’s Christmas campaign. Through a donation of €200, the bank received poinsettias that where used to decorate our Head Office and branches. Hospice Malta is currently working on establishing St. Michaels’ Hospice, Malta’s first Hospice Complex.
A similar donation of €600, collected through a raffle held amongst the employees, was given to Aġenzija Sapport. The organisation commits themselves to enhancing the quality of life of persons with disability through innovative personalised support, expertise, and advocacy. This donation allowed a family to purchase a go-cart for their eight year old boy with autism.
The bank would like to thank all these organisations for the work that they do to improve the quality of life of individuals in need in Malta, and wish them all the very best for their upcoming endeavours in 2019.
