MeDirect joined leading Maltese companies who are members of the Malta ESG Alliance (MESGA) to showcase its sustainability efforts. The activity which took place outside Parliament in Valletta, provided an opportunity for Malta’s business community to engage with members of the public and raise awareness on how enterprises across various economic sectors are evolving their processes and products to become more sustainable.
MeDirect has a longstanding commitment to sustainability, reflected in its Platinum Rating from EcoVadis, one of the most trusted providers of business sustainability ratings. The bank also has a clear sustainability strategy based on four key pillars. These are; continuing to build an organisation based on sound values and ESG principles, creating an attractive and inclusive organisation which promotes diversity and equality, building a low carbon business that supports the green transition and net zero commitments, and engaging in social initiatives that promote inclusion, development and future prosperity. The progress registered by the Bank in delivering this strategy is made available through regular public disclosure, including an annual non-financial report which can be found at https://www.medirect.com.mt/about-us/sustainability/
The Malta ESG Alliance (MESGA) was set up in 2022 as a platform for Maltese businesses to collaborate and work together to lead and drive national ESG goals and ultimately act as catalysts while leading by example. MESGA achieves this both by adapting the way its members do business and operate, as well as through working closely with policy makers to improve the local regulatory landscape and motivate the flow of finance in this direction.
Cressida Galea, Head of Regulatory Affairs & Sustainability at MeDirect, said, “It is inspiring to connect with fellow members of the Alliance and collaborate on driving impactful ESG practices across Malta. Events like these are vital for sharing knowledge and strengthening our commitment to sustainable business and community growth. Engaging with the public during the event also highlights the importance of transparency and collective action in addressing today’s environmental and social challenges. Together, we can build a more resilient and responsible future. Looking forward to continuing this journey with passionate professionals dedicated to making sustainability a core part of our everyday practices.”
