A Model Portfolio is a professionally designed selection (or basket) of mutual funds grouped together to match a specific investment strategy or risk level. By investing in a Model Portfolio, you automatically diversify your investment across multiple funds, helping to reduce overall risk and improve long-term return potential. It’s a simple and efficient way to invest without needing to select individual funds yourself.
The funds are selected based on the ratings given by Morningstar, an independent market leader in investment research. Morningstar’s professional financial analysts determine fund ratings based on past performance, as well as future market projections. Morningstar’s fund evaluation is based on five pillars, which are management team, fund house, investment process, yields and costs. This enables Morningstar to weigh the fund’s potential for outperforming similar funds.

These are standard industry fees and are applicable regardless of the platform or provider you use. We offer a range of Model Portfolios to suit different investment needs and preferences: Each portfolio comes with a risk level: Cautious, Balanced, or Dynamic, so you can choose one that matches your comfort with risk. We also offer Sustainable Model Portfolios, which include funds aligned with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.
When selecting a model portfolio it is important to keep in mind your investment goals, time horizon and attitude to risk. Additionally, take the time to carefully read all the legally required documentation about the funds including the KIID (Key Investor Information Document). MeDirect will not manage the Model Portfolio for you, and therefore you should check your investment on a regular basis.
Although it is recommended to keep Model Portfolios over a longer term, you may redeem the investment at any time.
If you choose an Income Model Portfolio, any dividends generated from the underlying mutual funds will be automatically credited to your MeDirect Current Account once they are received and processed.
