Chris Portelli, Chief Technology Officer at MeDirect has participated in a panel discussion titled, ‘Securing your digital footprint in today’s world’. The discussion was part of the Tech Week event currently being organised by PwC.

During the conversation, which included an overview of the impact of geopolitical issues such as the war in Ukraine on IT Security, Chris stressed the importance of integrating IT security from the outset of any technical development within an organisation and that security should be an inherent feature of any application.

“Adopting a DevSecOps mindset and leveraging automation throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is crucial. By integrating security practices at every stage of development, organisations can proactively identify vulnerabilities and mitigate risks effectively,” explained Chris. The adoption of this mindset also requires board members to understand the value of cybersecurity so that the relevant resources are allocated. Chris emphasised that by placing security into the core of product development, organisations can deliver robust solutions and strengthen customer trust. Thanks to this approach, MeDirect has been able to develop a mobile application and online banking platform which provides both security and flexibility to customers.
