MeDirect Bank proudly believes in the importance of music and the performing arts. One entity the company has always held a great relationship with is the Manoel Theatre. MeDirect is supporting local talent in the concert ‘An Evening with Mozart’.
About Mozart
In 1783, Mozart was quoted saying that his concertos could be performed with some element of flexibility when it came to the number of performers involved in any given performance. This allowed for a variety of concert variations, ranging from an elaborate large orchestra including wind instruments, to a simple four-piece string quartet.
The Performers
This sets the stage for ‘An Evening with Mozart’. The performance will be comprised of pianist Joanne Camilleri, together with the Cordia String Quartet. The quartet includes; David Lang (violin), Emese Toth (violin), Jacob Portelli (viola), and Frank Camilleri (cello). The evening will include two of Mozart’s famous piano concertos, complemented with his String Quartet in F.
Joanne Camilleri graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music (Manchester, UK). She has a Bachelor of Music, a Postgraduate Diploma in Piano Performance, and a Masters of Music in Performance. Recently, she was the first pianist to be awarded a Doctorate of Music in Performance by the University of Malta. She has performed both locally and internationally, as she continues to advance her career as a rising star in the world of music.
The Cordia String Quartet aims to bring their four different string instruments together to create an ambience of musical harmony. The group has taken part in both local and international concerts, and are under the patronage of the President of Malta. Most notably, they were selected to play during the state dinners held in Malta during the country’s EU Presidency.
‘An Evening with Mozart’ is taking place at the Teatru Manoel on 3rd June 2019. The evening promises to be a delight, and we wish the musicians the best of luck with the concert.
