Free online medirectalk to explore BlackRock’s view on three key investment sectors

MeDirect will give Investors in Malta the opportunity to learn more about the outlook in three key investment sectors during its next medirectalk, taking place on 25 May. Technology, Healthcare and Financials will, in fact, be the focus of this free online event which will also feature the views of BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager.

medirectalks take place online or in person on a regular basis throughout the year, providing access for Malta based investors to some of Europe’s leading investing experts. Organised by MeDirect, they are part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to provide all those who wish to invest with the best possible tools and information.

Ingrid Micallef, Head – Products & Marketing Malta at MeDirect Bank, said, “Technology, healthcare and financials have been very much at the forefront of investors’ minds in recent weeks and months. We felt, therefore, that it was important to create an event which takes a more detailed look at these sectors and how they might evolve in the months ahead. We will look at emerging themes such as Generative AI, Reshoring and Electric Vehicles, the role of healthcare in providing resilience in equity markets and the opportunities in financials following the recent volatility in the banking sector.”

Joining the free webinar will be AJ Ziegler, Vice President at BlackRock and a Product Strategist in BlackRock’s Active Equities Group together with Matthew Kilroy who is also a Vice President at BlackRock and who will moderate a Q&A session. Participants will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance as well as during the event itself.

“Investment decisions can certainly be challenging, even more so in the current environment, which is why MeDirect continues to create opportunities to provide investors with valuable insights on key sectors. This upcoming medirectalk will hopefully help investors in better understanding how best to position themselves,” continued Micallef.

BlackRock Commentary: Higher bar for U.S. earnings to deliver

In 2024, we witnessed two distinct narratives unfold. Initially, cooling inflation and robust corporate earnings supported a positive risk appetite.
However, later in the year, resurging inflation emerged, disrupting market sentiment. While BlackRock maintain an overweight position in U.S. stocks, they remain prepared to adapt to changing market conditions.

BlackRock anticipates that earnings performance will be crucial in meeting elevated market expectations, particularly following recent data revealing persistent inflation concerns that unnerved investors.
