A special ‘Behind the Panto Scenes’ event for children

Mediterranean Bank was the kind sponsor of the special ‘Behind the Panto Scenes’ event for children from Aġenzija Appoġġ and the Ursuline Sisters’ Angela House in Pieta’.

The event, which took place on Friday, was organised as part of Manoel Theathre’s ToiToi Education Programme together with Masquerade, this year’s producers of The Curse of Snow White

Manoel’s CEO Ray Attard commented “The aim of the ToiToi programme is to make theatre accessible to all. An event such as this makes it possible to attract children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to watch live theatre.”

The children were treated to an hour-long tour of the theatre and backstage area by the panto’s director Tony Bezzina who explained the traditions of pantomime and also introduced them to some of the cast.

This year’s ‘Behind the Panto Scenes’ was the first such event offered to children from charitable institutions and was made possible by Mediterranean Bank, already a stalwart supporter of the Manoel.

Aġenzija Appoġġ forms part of the Foundation for Social Welfare Services, offering a wide range of community-based and specialised social welfare services and is the central national agency for children and familes in need. Angela House is pieta is just one of the many homes for children run by the Ursuline Sisters of St Angela Merici in Malta.

The Curse of Snow White is on at the Manoel till Sunday 6 January. For tickets and more information visit www.teatrumanoel.com.mt
